Everything you'd like to know.
If your question isn't here, write to us at connect@dearlyconnect.com — we answer every letter.
Getting Started
Dearly Connection begins with Share Your Story — an unusually thorough introduction, deeper than a typical profile. It asks about your values, your lifestyle, how you communicate, what you're hoping to find, and the small details that make you who you are. It takes time to complete, and that's by design — the more openly and honestly you share, the more thoughtfully we're able to introduce you to someone worth knowing. Every story is carefully reviewed, weighed, and considered before we make a single introduction.
For anyone who believes meaningful relationships are worth waiting for — the tired swipers, the hopeless romantics, the slow-living devotees, the introverts, the deep-conversation seekers, and anyone who still walks a little faster to the mailbox.
Dearly exists for the kind of connection that starts with words, not a photograph — the pull toward someone you're only just beginning to know. At its heart, Dearly is a place to fall for someone — though where that connection ultimately leads is never quite up to us. Some letters become a lifelong friendship. Some become a person you find yourself opening up to in ways you didn't plan. Wherever your correspondence leads, it will have been worth writing.
For most members it's a matter of weeks after completing Share Your Story, though we don't promise a date. Introductions are curated by people, one at a time, and we would rather wait for one that feels promising than make one to meet a deadline. While we're looking, we keep you informed by email rather than leaving you to wonder.
We continue looking thoughtfully rather than forcing a poor match simply to meet a deadline. If a first introduction isn't the right one, we'll keep introducing you to new people until something feels real for both of you. And if at any point either person feels it's time to close a correspondence, that's always their choice to make.
Dearly is currently available across the United States, with plans to welcome international members soon.
Membership is open to those 18 and older.
The Letters
The Dearly Connection Welcome Kit: exclusive Dearly stationery for your first four handwritten letters, four coordinating envelopes, four U.S. Forever Stamps, your first thoughtful prompts and our writing guide — one letter each week, to help your connection unfold naturally. Dearly Correspondence begins with a welcome presentation instead, since there is no matching or forwarding.
One letter each week during your first month. After that, every connection finds its own pace.
You don't need to be a great writer. Your Welcome Kit includes gentle prompts to help conversations begin. The most meaningful letters aren't perfect — they're honest.
We encourage handwriting — there's something a screen can't replicate in a person's real hand. But we want every member to feel confident putting their words down, however that happens best for them. If handwriting isn't your strength, typed letters are always welcome. And soon, members will be able to type their letters and have them beautifully transcribed by hand on their behalf.
After the First Month
Month one is the introduction — the largest, most ceremonial part of the experience. After that, membership supports whatever the correspondence needs next. If you and your connection both wish to keep writing, continuing months support that same correspondence rather than interrupting it.
No. Dearly is not an introduction-of-the-month service. We will never replace a promising connection simply because a new billing cycle has begun. A new introduction happens when you ask for one.
Then nothing interrupts you. That is the intended experience — one active correspondence, given room to develop, with prompts and correspondence materials that evolve alongside it.
Tell us privately, and we'll begin curating another thoughtful introduction. There's no penalty and no explanation owed to anyone but us.
Choosing differently is treated as a private decision, not a public verdict. Dearly is not built to turn one member's honesty into a rating, a score, or rejection content another member has to read about themselves. Both people are able to move on with their dignity intact.
You may request one. Your Story stays with us, so a new introduction begins from everything we already know about you rather than from a blank page.
Then we wait a little. We would rather take longer than send you someone we don't genuinely believe in. Fit matters more to us than meeting an artificial monthly deadline, so we don't promise a specific timeline for any introduction.
Write to us and we'll help you make sense of the quiet. Letters move at their own pace, and a slow reply is not always a lost one. We're actively designing the membership experience to reduce the uncertainty of waiting, and we'll share more as those pieces are ready.
The ongoing Dearly correspondence experience: your monthly materials for four letters — exclusive stationery, four coordinating envelopes, four U.S. Forever Stamps, four prompts and a small Dearly correspondence card — prompts that develop as the connection develops, Dearly Connection's private forwarding service, thoughtful support, and the ability to decide each month whether to continue, request another introduction, or pause.
Yes, every month. Each month both memberships include exclusive Dearly stationery sufficient for four letters, four coordinating envelopes, four U.S. Forever Stamps, four thoughtful prompts and a small Dearly correspondence card. Dearly Connection additionally begins with the full Dearly Welcome Kit.
No. Prompts follow the arc of a real conversation. Early ones help two strangers introduce themselves. Later ones help you notice each other, understand each other, reveal a little more, and eventually talk about the connection itself.
Never. Prompts are invitations, not homework. Many of the best letters ignore them entirely.
The normal Dearly experience is one active romantic correspondence at a time. That describes how our service works — one connection, given real attention — not a demand about how you live the rest of your life.
Yes. Membership is designed around the idea that life has seasons. You may pause or cancel at any time, and you're always welcome back.
There's no fixed duration. Some connections clarify within weeks; others unfold across months. Stay while Dearly is useful to you, and no longer than that.
Dearly exists to help a connection begin differently — not to keep two people behind paper forever. If both of you choose to continue outside Dearly, you're welcome to exchange contact information then, in your own time.
That's the ending we're hoping for. Dearly is designed to become unnecessary when a relationship moves into real life. We'd rather lose a member to a love story than keep one out of habit.
Matching & Connections
In Dearly Connection, not directly — our team curates one thoughtful introduction at a time, based on your story rather than browsing, and we'll happily curate a new connection if it isn't the right fit. In Dearly Correspondence you choose the person yourself: there is no matching, and you address your own envelopes.
Not every connection is meant to last. Tell us, and we'll thoughtfully curate a new one — no penalty for choosing differently, and the decision stays private between you and us.
Privacy & Safety
Your home address is never shared. Every letter is sent through Dearly's secure forwarding service, protecting both members throughout the early stages of the connection. If both people mutually choose to continue outside Dearly later, they're welcome to exchange contact information then.
Membership is limited to adults 18 and older, and every member confirms they meet that age requirement before joining a cohort. Dearly does not run background checks or formal identity verification; Dearly Connection letters travel through our private forwarding service so home addresses are never shared.
The Two Dearly Memberships
Dearly Connection is the flagship matched experience: a thoughtful compatibility profile, one curated correspondence at a time, and Dearly's private forwarding so members never share home addresses. Dearly Correspondence is for people who already know whom they want to write to — it includes the monthly Dearly materials and prompts, but no matching and no forwarding service.
Both include exclusive Dearly stationery sufficient for four letters, four coordinating envelopes, four U.S. Forever Stamps, four thoughtful conversation prompts, and a small monthly Dearly correspondence card. Dearly Connection additionally includes compatibility matching and private letter forwarding, and begins with the full Dearly Welcome Kit.

No. Dearly Correspondence is for writing someone already in your life — you choose the person and address your own envelopes. Curated matching and private forwarding belong to Dearly Connection.
